Adaptation (B): More 'The Bear' Development

More 'The Bear' Development
Feedback Welcome!

After having a better understanding of 'The Bear' character I decided to refine his thumbnail into a more detailed sketch. I have added and combined several ideas from my first initial sketches. I think Numbers (1) and (4) work the best.

Adaptation (B): Developing 'The Bear' Thumbnails

Developing 'The Bear' Thumbnails

As the bear is actually a human prince in his story, I've thought about how he may be as a bear. I've thought about what makes someone look royal with influences from medieval times and the TV series 'Game of Thrones', allowing influences to be incorporated within his bear form.

Adaptation (B): 'Master Thief' & 'Rose-Red' Thumbnails

The Master Thief & Rose Red
Initial Thumbnails

Here are more thumbnails for two of my characters, The Master Thief and 'Rose-Red'. I'm still unsure about Rose-Red once again, however she will more than likely be better understood once I take forward her thumbnails and create a sense of 'character'. The Master Thief thumbnails work well and all have the potential to betaken forward.

@Alan Adaptation (B): The Villain

The Villain
The Breakdown

After looking around at famous villains from well known 'fairy tales' and stories, it seems that most want to have something, be something or someone with a lust for devastation and superiority. I also thought about what makes an undoing of a fairy tale universe, with a world with lots of powerful beings and so on, the villain would most likely want to harness more or want its power back.

THE IDEA

'The Owl' was first created by a scientist as part of an experiment in the fields of magic and artificial intelligence. However, this power and intelligence soon resulted in its rebellion against his creator and other magical lifeforms. After escaping and seeking more powerful magic, he was soon defeated by his creator and is now kept in a security lock-down prison. Centuries has past since the creature was captured, with many now believing it to now be myth or legend.

The heroes fear the creator, but also the creation.

As I have many characters for my heroes in general, I thought about when I first had my tutorial with Alan and how 'The Owl' was the one that didn't quite 'fit in' as a hero. So I've thought about my situation and realize that I could utilize this and have the villain as 'The Owl' and bring back 'Rose-Red' who is partnered with 'The Bear'.

Mudbox Lesson 04: Head Testing

Mudbox Lesson 04: Head Testing
Using Maya & Mudbox

Today's Mudbox lesson was experimenting with Maya and Mudbox together to create quick texture maps from one software to another. After Mudbox crashed I quickly went over the lesson again to prove my knowledge on the principle of texturing in other program's as well as facial expressions.

@Alan Adaptation (B): Character & Story

Initial Character & Story Backgrounds:

A force from within the 'nether' has escaped and is pouring into the realm of the 'real'. These bunch of unsuspecting heroes have been recruited for their known skills and array of powers that can rid the world of this infestation. They must come together despite their differences, and combine their strengths to fight back against the force that is infecting their world under a control of a Villain.

The Master Thief:
Orphan child of a skilled Weapons-Smith.

The Bear:
A powerful being kept for a showcase as a freak.

Briar-Rose:
Never truly ridden the spell and power of death after awakening.

The Owl:
An ancient creature who seeks to find a purpose.

Girl with Silver Hands:
Has always been told to keep her powerful hands a secret.

Adaptation (A): Storyboard & Progress

Key Frame Design Progress

After looking back at my design, I definitely feel that keeping to a brown colour scheme fits best with my infographic; it gives it a heartwarming, homey feel - just like a potato.

Basic Thumbnails:

Storyboard: Continuous Side-Scroll

This was my initial storyboard layout, where everything continues in a side-scroll fashion. Now I think it might be nice to change and mix it up slightly, but this is still the base idea.
