Developmental Thumbnails
After looking through my sketchbook, I developed the few I liked into a more detailed thumbnails. I have been focusing on composition and perspective.
My favorites are 86, 87, 90 and 91.
(86 - 93)
My favorites on this page are 95, 97, 99 and 101.
(94 - 101)
Another set of good thumbnails, Heidi - notice how the skewed 'dutch angle' of 93 creates an almost 'neurotic' panicky effect, as if the environment is lurching or endangered somehow; this feels like a very 'emotionalised' composition - far from neutral, whereas 87 feels more objective - more informing. These aren't criticisms, just observations, but certainly when you tilt a few like that, the effect changes dramatically.
ReplyDeleteI don't take this as criticism, Phil. I'm glad I've had another opinion. :)
DeleteStill in working progress, just trying to find my ground ideas.
Hi Heidi! I've been trying to leave comments but my PC hasn't been co-operating :P I really like your thumbnails though, they've been really dynamic and they feel really confident, which is great!
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with Phil, the skewed angles feel really powerful and I'd love to see this explored more. Also, maybe try expanding one or two such as 98. Some feel like they'd be even more epic with a bit more in the shot :)
Hi there, Molly.
DeleteThank you! Yes I must agree as well. I will definitely take atmosphere and dynamics into account when furthering them. :)
Hi Heidi,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback on my blog. I really like No.96 and No.100 of these thumbnails, I think they have a great sense of depth :)
