Secret Lairs: OGR (1) New Influence Maps

Following OGR Feedback & Response

These are my new and 'improved' Influence Maps that will be the core of my Secret Lairs project. After my first OGR feedback I have decided on the route to take therefore starting again and working up new ideas, sketches and a whole lot more research.

So now that I have a fuller and better understanding of my Secret Lair, Demon and Hero Prop, I can begin designing my world in the right direction. I will try to create more thumbnails digitally for this project as I aim to improve my digital painting skills.

Secret Lairs: Influence Map - Kayak

The 'Could Be' Hero Prop

This is my Influence Map for my Hero Prop for Demonic Eskimo. I really want to make this kayak very intricate and decorative. Perhaps in the style of some traditional Kayaks rather than modern ones.

I really like the last image with the black, white & red patterns on the outside of the Kayak. This is something that I would like to replicate in my designs.

Secret Lairs: Influence Maps - Cultural Hero Prop

Eskimo Cultural Hero Prop

This is an Influence Map with everyday Eskimo items that could potentially be turned into a Hyperborean Demon 'Hero Prop'. I really like the bow & arrows that were used to traditionally hunt their prey. But also a skinning/carving knife with decorative handle carvings.

But I would be very grateful for any feedback that may help in coming up with other ideas for a Demonic Eskimo Prop.

Secret Lairs: Influence Maps - Eskimo Culture

Eskimo Culture Influence Maps

After speaking with Jordan, I realised I haven't given myself enough to work with when creating my 'Secret Lair' for my Demon. So I decided there and then to move away from the highly generic Demons and Ice Caves. Therefore, I began looking into Arctic cultures/tribes such as Eskimos.

Influence Map 1:

This first Influence Map is about the iconic 'Fur Coats' that Eskimos wear to keep themselves warm. I have looked into traditional and modern fur coats when creating this page that could allow another route to my designs.

Influence Map 2:

The second Influence Map is about the sled and their beloved Canadian Eskimo Dogs. Their dogs were their only source of long distance travel before electronic sledges reached the arctic. It fits well with how black dogs are seen as omens and the spawn of Satan. There is also the possibility to use the woodlands as a source to create a 'Secret Lair'.

Influence Map 3:

The third Influence Map is how traditional Eskimos live and what these Teepee's, Huts and Igloos look like. This culture thrives with the quantity of fur they are supported by. So this could be incorporated into my Demon and the 'Lair' itself.

Game of Thrones - Wildlings

As I have began to look into other various resources for inspiration for my Secret Lair, I thought a good place to start would be with 'The Wildlings' from the Game of Thrones TV series. They live by nature and live just how real life Eskimos do. I also liked how their outfits mix in with the scenery including their village huts.

Cinematic Spaces: Influence Maps

Digital Paintings & Photos

These are three influence maps for all three of my scenes. A combination of both photographs and digital paintings.

A little be-lated, however over the course of the next few days these images will definitely benefit my thumbnail drawings and potentially further my designs.

Visual Concept Influence Map

This is my overall Visual Concept Influence Map. I have chosen these specific images because they show dramatic colour pallets, atmosphere and intriguing compositions.
